Hotpod Yoga

The Graphical Tree are lucky enough to work with Hotpod Yoga, one of Europe’s largest yoga businesses with over 50 locations around the world.

Launched in 2013, Hotpod Yoga say this about themselves, we, “started with a simple mission: to reinvent yoga for the modern world. We wanted to create a supercharged approach to an ancient and powerful practice that could help take yoga out of its niche and into the lives of millions of people previously untouched by (or uninterested in) yoga.”

How did they plan to do this? Some of it was by ‘embracing the future, while respecting the past, the Hotpod Yoga experience fuses innovative design and intricate detailing with high-quality teaching and real personality.’

This is where we start to play our part with the printing and application of graphics within the studios.

In a hot environment, there are factors to take into consideration when producing graphics. And of course, each venue will have its own set of criteria to respond to as well. Take the studio featured in this particular case study, Hotpod Yoga South Wimbledon. The industrial nature of some of the walls – painted brickwork and breezeblocks, could cause difficulties when fitting graphics.

However, thankfully, we’re an experienced bunch and once an assessment of a site has been made we can make the necessary provisions and decisions for which is the most suitable substrates to use for the graphics.

Inside stick, white-backed optically clear self-adhesive vinyl is perfect for glass manifestations – those which are street-facing into the world advertising what the space does and how – all important factors for bringing attention to the brand. Part of the criterion was that the windows needed to be washed on a regular basis because, a) the space is on a busy main road, and b) a hot and active environment needs to be clean and feel hygienic to those practising. Applying the graphics on the inside allows the glass to be washed professionally from the outside, while the graphics can be easily wiped down from the interior.

Printed retail vinyl decals for walls and window graphics

The internal wall graphics of the South Wimbledon site meant we had to use a pliable conformable vinyl suitable for a more industrial setting. The nature and attributes of the substrate mean it’s perfect to apply to rough walls and surfaces.

The printed material is heated to make it stretchable and pliable to the surface, grouting and all. The vinyl moulds to the surface and bonds to the painted breezeblocks of the walls. Perhaps surprisingly, no damage is done to the print, which remains fully intact and wonderful looking – as high in quality as when it first rolled off the printer.

The effect can actually look great, almost as if a signwriter has painted the walls, and allowing the texture of the wall to come through, rather than hiding it. So if you chose a location specifically for the look and feel of the space, there’s no need to worry that it’ll lose its qualities by covering it with livery and graphics. The aim is always to enhance a space, not take anything always from it.

Effectively branding a venue and location can go a long way. Not only can it encourage people through the door, but it can also help to keep them too. The space that a customer frequents is, after all, part of the experience, not just the time they spend on their yoga mat for example, as is the case for yoga studios.

Graphics can aid the creation of an environment that sings from the brand’s unique songbook, windows, walls and all. If you would like help living up your space, just let us know. You can contact us on 020 7580 4405, or email us here – print@thegraphicaltree.com
