Charlotte Tilbury event graphics

Having successfully worked with EMYP Studios on jobs for the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, The Graphical Tree were commissioned to produce a full set of event graphics and branding for the luxury beauty, makeup & skincare brand, Charlotte Tilbury.

EMYP is a London-based creative design production and consultancy agency. The studio works with luxury fashion & beauty brands, and specialising in curating detail-oriented spaces and experiences. Which is where we come in, able to add our own expertise within these fields and help create an even greater experience for EMYP and Charlotte Tilbury.

The event required an extensive set of branding, including those for full floor coverage, and props, as well as graphics for glass, windows and walls. The first port of call was to visit the location and undertake a full site survey of the space. The event was held in Covent Garden, and as we’re based in central London ourselves, we were easily able to pop over and be part of the preliminary site briefing. The efficiency afforded by our London HQ is part of our USP. The Graphical Tree choose to operate from such a central and convenient location for good reason. You can read more about the benefits of our location here.

As with all print, and especially pertinent for brand work, it’s our duty to make sure brand colours are adhered to and produced correctly. Our production department spent time Pantone-matching colour samples for the floor graphics and exterior windows to match the Charlotte Tilbury brand colours. Testing colours on-site under the event lighting then allowed us to know we were on point. The floor graphics covered a large space so it was especially important to get it right. We also pre-tested the floor vinyl on the event space floor to ensure it adhered securely, and could be removed correctly.

Once the colours, production spec and costs had been approved we progressed to the artwork stage. This included the floor graphics as per our working plan. The whole floor area production covered a total area of 15,700 x 11,600mm, that’s 182 sq m of floor vinyl. This was to be installed prior to props and other event elements being delivered, installed and dressed, and the other graphics elements of the brief we produced.

The floor graphic was printed using a single-layered eco floor media and printed using latex inks. The media we use has a built-in anti-slip seal as part of its make-up – this means there’s no need to use a separate laminate on top of the printed media.

As well as the flooring, we also printed, cut and finished a host of other items. These included large photographic campaign imagery which were installed to the venue walls; white-backed printed vinyl matching the floor vinyl; cut-to-shape logo decals; and additional vinyl elements for walls and prop livery and branding. In total it was just shy of 200 sq m of self-adhesive vinyl on top of the floor graphics.

To finish it off, we sent a team over to install the graphics ourselves. The installation was completed by a five person team over one full day, and then de-rigged after the event. The graphics were returned to our London office for recycling where possible.

As mentioned above, The Graphical Tree have a lot of experience working in retail and with luxury brands. We have a host of articles about our work within this sector including working with luxury brands; fashion press events; and retail campaigns; as well as tips on how to produce sustainable graphics.
