Naked Heart Foundation – event signage

The Graphical Tree commissioned by creative, experience-driven events company Timebased to work with them on arguably the hottest ticket in town, and the unofficial closing party for Spring’s London Fashion Week. We’re talking about the Fabulous Fund Fair.

The fair is a celebrity endorsed, fashion famed charity event now in its 4th year and this year raised more than £600,000 for the Naked Heart Foundation. The foundation's aim is to 'help build an inclusive society that is open to people with disabilities and special needs, through play and the creation of free support services for disadvantaged families.'

The charity event was filled with stars and the fashion elite. Including Fendi’s Space Ball., L’Oréal’s Intergalactic Kissing Booth. As well as Stella McCartney, Pixie Lott, Louis Vuitton, Versace and Givenchy who each hosted their own space themed games. In the centre was the flying chairs ride, which as you can guess, was an absolute Instagram winner.

All of this needed some super galactic graphics and signage to bring the ideas to life – which is where we came in.

Printed prop, wall and floor graphics for event signage London
As the guests landed at the Roundhouse in London for this years charity event they boarded the spaceship for an interstellar adventure to Planet Fund Fair. Costumed astronauts and space crew welcomed guests aboard, escorting them up to the Observation Deck reception for a video featuring Natalia Vodianova, the founder and face of the Naked Heart Foundation. As the spaceship landed the party began featuring a fabulous mix of interactive funfair games with luxury prizes, food stalls and entertainment.
After receiving a job brief we held a pre-production site meeting at the event venue, the 2500sqm spaced Roundhouse in Camden, between our Head of Special Projects, Timebased and the Roundhouse team. Comprehensive measurements were recorded, a pre-production site survey was undertaken and an outline of our production and installation schedule was decided upon.
The event signage and graphics consisted mostly direct to media 2mm and 3mm foamex panels, a fire retardant substrate perfect for a public accessed environment + cut vinyl decals and double-sided PCV banners. All installed by a six-person crew and supervised by the Special Projects Manager. Prior to installation, we sent all production specifications and material fire ratings to the Roundhouse as well as a full set of RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statements) to the venue.
At the end of the first day on site installing, once everything started to come together in glorious cosmic technicolour, the client decided they’d like to add additional graphics. Then more throughout the second day, right up until the last minute it seemed, almost as the party was beginning. But this isn’t a grumble. It’s natural to see a production and event come together and to feel that an extra piece of signage or a graphic would be useful or exciting to have. We find it's the extra value we offer in having a Central London site to work in tandem with our large production site in West London. It means we can turn additional pieces of signage around quickly to fulfil the full potential of the event team.
